12/4/2023 0 Comments Forspoken dialogue meme![]() This has been the natural evolution of the cheesy 1980s post-kill one-liners from movies like Die Hard or Commando. Unfortunately for Forspoken, the current year of 2023 is a long way beyond the early 2010s when characters popping jokes in the middle of combat was a refreshing change from more classic action media. So, even with the comparisons, there may have been a time when Frey Holland's dialogue might have not only been more acceptable with mainstream audiences, but seen as fresh and fun. Though Whedon himself is a controversial figure now, his comical tone has been received positively in some of his Marvel films like 2012's Avengers, with criticisms also being leveled at his style in more recent years. Either way gaming is subjective I'm going to get it as it doesn't seem that bad from the demo and there is nothing else like it out there. As seen through the trending Twitter topics since Forspoken launched, the key criticism that has been thrown around is a comparison to the quippy, referential dialogue made popular by writers and directors like Joss Whedon. Get past the cringy dialogue and characters and fundamentally the gameplay loop is something that deserves praise, it's the only reason why I'm getting it at this point, free flowing combat and movement is something we don't see in games much anymore. People blasting this game without giving it any credit though is very annoying. I wish these Japanese Publishers would just ignore what they "Think" we want and just publish what they want that works. I played the demo on PC, probably going to get it on PS5 but I think I saw a language option in settings, not sure if it's voiced or not, but if so I would recommend just changing it to Japanese or something.Įither way terrible dialogue doesn't bother me anymore, it's literally caked into almost all forms of our entertainment now at least in the western market.Ĭomics, movies, games, etc it seriously feels like all popular areas of pop culture are being killed by people who aren't interested in just telling a damn good story.įorspoken should have been Agni's Philosophy that old Final Fantasy Tech Demo, if you think about it the game kind of is unfortunately it feels like the inclusion of what "Appeals" to the Western Market got in the way of everything that could have made it extremely interesting outside of the combat. ![]() But then in the games narrative you find out that the nail polish is actually their blood tapping into their dormant powers to weave unique abilities is the most warrior badass thing I could think of.įunny how playing something and opening up to it is better then blindly hating it on pre-conceived notions. Then crowd control with the whip, and I haven’t even unlocked the fire or water skill tree yet!? And if there’s lighting I can’t wait!Īlso, remember seeing someone talk about how a warrior doesn’t have nail polish. ![]() ![]() Laying a mie that blows up 10 enemies while 20 more follow and I’m cutting them down with scatter shots. It’s just dialogue, but the gameplay is so fun. And the dialogue isn’t making me puncture my ear drum as it’s also not having me jump for joy because it gives me a warm tingly feeling. Dead Space was a great game but was super linear given its time, calisto had the same in my eyes except it had the benefits of great graphics and focus.įorspoken I am not seeing ANY technical hiccups. I thoroughly enjoyed the game, for their first outing in the IP. I see people hating calisto protocol a lot. ![]()
